  • New developments
  • Education
  • Clinical practice
  • Health and safety
  • Research
  • Workplace issues

Poster guidelines

Design:

The success of the poster lies in its design and presentation:

  • it must be clearly set out, concise and legible
  • maximum size of poster 1m x 1.25m high (the poster will be attached to the display board by velcro - AfPP to provide)

Format:

You should be able to obtain assistance with layout and presentation, if you allow sufficient time, from your hospitals medical illustration department.

  1. The poster should be headed by a title large enough to read from a distance of 2m.
  2. Please include an abstract about the poster – what did you do, how did you do it, results/conclusions you reached, how (if appropriate) you will implement this – should be submitted with the poster on a separate, appropriately identified, sheet. Remember to acknowledge any assistance from sponsors, colleagues and professional bodies but be mindful that this facility is offered by AfPP for educational displays and not for advertising products.

In terms of the content and look of your poster consider the following:

  • Is the information provided useful and informative?
  • Does it have visual impact?
  • Is the presentation clear and interesting?
  • Are the results/conclusions clearly stated?

Remember:

Pictures, colourful graphs, and tables help to tell the story when presenting information in a poster format
